So, for a boat to commence the Great Loop it must get to water that is connected to the waterways of the Great Loop. Unfortunately the reservoir we bought and kept our boat on, Lake Allatoona, is not connected. This means we will have to arrange overland transport................ what a hassle!

There are several alternatives to places we could take the boat to: the Georgia Atlantic coast (we kept our previous boat in Darien for 7 years and know the waters there, the Savannah River near Augusta (Pat's folks lived there and that's a close drive, and the somewhere on the Tennessee River (Chattanooga is close).

After working thru preliminary details and options we decide to move the boat up to Watts Bar Reservoir on the Tennessee River between Chattanooga and Knoxville. We ended up picking this location for several reasons: close, still in freshwater and we've found a mechanic that has agreed to prepare the boat for it's long journey.

Happy Happy's last day on Lake Allatoona.

Happy Happy in her new slip on Watts Bar Reservoir. As if it were an omen, we had two "twin" boats (the same model) docked next to us.
