It all started out simply enough. After a week of downpours and overcast but mild weather, the skies and breezes (we'll get to this soon enough) "freshened" and we were anxious to shake the rust off our boating skills and get cruising again. After the perfunctory homage to our ancestral dinosaurs (a trip to the gas pumps), we headed out of the Dog River to cross Mobile Bay to get to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. An hour into the 4 hour crossing 8 mph winds turned to 30 and a "light to moderate chop" turned to 4 - 6 foot seas. Note to self: next time make sure to tie the refrigerator door and galley cabinets closed and oh yeah don't forget to close all the lower port windows!

All's well that ends well. Back in the sheltered waters of the Intracoastal we found our way to Lulu's (a restaurant owned by Jimmy Buffet's sister) and had a hearty seafood buffet!
