As we finished our crossing of the Gulf we traveled up the Anclote River to Tarpon Springs. At the mouth of the Anclote River are several barrier islands which were noted in our cruising guides as good overnight anchorages. We decided to make the short run out the bay to Anclote Key on Mother's day to anchor out and position ourselves for the run down the Intracoastal Waterway the next day, Monday, when boat traffic wouldn't be so bad. Of course when we arrived it was quite busy with other boaters, but by the afternoon, we ended up with the place to ourselves and had a great evening beach walk.
