Our cruise down this part of the St Johns involves crossing Lake George. Like many of the other large, shallow bays we've encountered before, a windy day can make the crossing an uncomfortable and even dangerous time. We are lucky to have a good day and make the crossing with only mild rocking and rolling as we make our way to Silver Glen Springs.
Still it's a bit tricky finding our way into the springs as the mouth of the river is heavily shoaled in. The electronic and paper charts we have for this area have differing information on where the deep areas are to get in to the river and at one point our depthfinder reads only 6 inches of water below the keel! Luckily a cruiser who sees us picking our way thru the shallows sees us and leads us in with his dinghy.
We find our way thru the shallows at the entrance to Silver Glen Springs thanks to helpful humans!
Anchoring in the springs is like being in the Carribean. The water is sooooo clear.
The Judester is always ready for an adventure in the dinghy.
