Black Creek and Thanksgiving Two Too

The weather has continued to be pleasant so we're taking JT out for a night on the water before he heads back to Athens. On our way down the St Johns last month we'd heard about Black Creek a few hours cruise south of Jacksonville but ended up anchoring in Doctors Lake. so this "new" place gets the vote. Black Creek turns out to be full of fall color and has a long stretch of undeveloped shoreline. Because it's Thanksgiving weekend though, it turns out to be pretty busy with other folks enjoying the water too, but by evening, everything quiets down and we have a peaceful night at anchor.

Leaving our home marina involves getting a bridge opening from the Ortega River, a cute little draw bridge!

Back on the "upper" end of the St Johns has us cruising the wide, lake size part of the river. On windy days this part of the river can develop scary big waves and be dangerous. We're lucky to have flat seas for our trip.

Tricks has become quite the sea cat!

Goats!

One of the lowest bridge clearances we've made along the way!

Hmmm 4 car garage and a 5 slip dock, with a vintage, mahogany Chris Craft runabout................................... the good life!

Anchored for the night, tucked in behind Jessie's Island.

On our return to the marina we celebrate Thanksgiving again with our dock mates.
