The Richelieu

The Richelieu, from Lake Chambly to the St Lawrence is a beautiful stretch of water. Wide and green with quaint little villages and towns separated by long stretches of farmland on both sides. We don't encounter much other boat traffic either and seem have the river to ourselves (but maybe that's because we're traveling through this section during the week). With very few bridges, this part of the river has lots of car ferrys to connect the folks on both sides. Lots of shining silver church steeples.

More of those pesky plutonic intrusions!

Our last stop on the Richelieu is at the St Ours lock and dam. Its operated by the National Parks and encompasses the adjacent island. As part of our seasonal mooring pass, we get to stay overnight for free at all the lock walls.

Glamping on the island!
