The North Channel to Georgian Bay

The eastern end of Manitoulin Island, "the largest freshwater island in the world!", defines the boundary waters of the North Channel to the west and Georgian Bay to the east. With the month or so we have to be in Canada our plan is to get as far as Britt in Georgian Bay and then use our remaining time to slowly cruise our way back through all the remote anchorages and seaside villages along the way that we didn't have time to visit last fall.

Our first anchorage near Kilarney was Covered Portage, noted for it's weathered rock profile.

Back in Georgian Bay involves navigating the Small Craft Channel and staying off the rocks!

Our stay in the Bad River included meeting another Happy Happy twin boat, Sandy Gal !! and her crew Nick and Rachel from Thunder Bay who were on their last month or so of finishing their Great Loop trip.

The walleye-pickeral were running in the feeder streams of the Bad River while we were there. Real fishermen were catching their limits in no time.
